Bài mẫu IELTS Speaking Part 2: “Describe a person who has interesting ideas and opinions"

You should say

Who this person is

How you know this person

What interesting ideas/opinions he/she

And explain you think why his/her ideas are interesting

Oh, let me tell you about a person full of fascinating ideas. My dad! Not only is he an amazing father, but he's also the CFO of a big company, and the depth of his insights is just mind-blowing. I've known him all my life, obviously, but it's only as I've grown older that I've truly begun to appreciate the breadth and depth of his knowledge and perspective. He has this unique way of looking at business and finance, he can bring fresh and unconventional viewpoints to the table.

One of the most interesting things about his opinions is how he ties them to real-world scenarios. He doesn’t just theorize, he applies his ideas to actual business strategies, which often leads to impressive results. He's also very forward-thinking, always considering the future impact of today's decisions. When I was younger I usually laughed at his foresight because it sounded unrealistic, and of course I was wrong, he was right the whole time. Listening to him discuss business strategies or economic theories is like attending a masterclass in finance. It’s not just the content of his ideas that's intriguing, it's also the way he articulates them with clarity and conviction.

mind-blowing (a): ấn tượng forward-thinking (a): suy nghĩ tiến bộ
breadth (n): chiều rộng foresight (n): dự đoán
unconventional (a): độc đáo masterclass (n): lớp học thạc sĩ
theorize (v): lý thuyết hoá articulate (v): truyền đạt rõ ràng

Children begin to have their own ideas and thoughts as they grow and develop cognitively. 1. Why are there more and more differences between children and their parents these days?

There are several reasons for the increasing differences between children and their parents in modern times. Firstly, rapid advancements in technology have exposed children to a vast amount of information and diverse perspectives, allowing them to develop their own ideas and beliefs that may differ from their parents. Additionally, societal changes, such as evolving cultural norms, globalization, and increased access to education, have contributed to a widening generation gap. These factors can lead to differing values, attitudes, and opinions between children and their parents.

Advancements in technology - tiến triển trong công nghệ

Diverse perspectives - quan điểm đa dạng

Generation gap - khoảng cách giữa các thế hệ

Cultural norms - chuẩn mực văn hóa

  1. What are the advantages and disadvantages of setting rules for children?

Setting rules for children can have both advantages and disadvantages. On the positive side, rules provide structure and guidance, helping children understand boundaries and develop self-discipline. Rules also promote safety and protect children from potential harm. Moreover, consistent and reasonable rules teach children important life skills such as responsibility, respect, and accountability.

Structure and guidance - cấu trúc và hướng dẫn

Self-discipline - tự giác, kỷ luật bản thân

Accountability - trách nhiệm

  1. Who are smart children likely to be influenced by?

Smart children are likely to be influenced by a variety of factors. It’s hard to pinpoint just one. They might be inspired by their parents, teachers, books, or even their experiences. These influences can shape their thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills.

  1. How do inventors or philosophers come up with new ideas?

Inventors and philosophers often come up with new ideas through a combination of curiosity, observation, and critical thinking. They question the status quo and look at the world from unique perspectives. It's like they have a special lens that helps them see possibilities where others see obstacles. Their creativity is often fueled by a desire to explore, understand, and improve the world around them.

  1. Are there only old ideas from books or previous writers?

Definitely not! While old ideas from books and previous writers provide a foundation, there's always room for new thoughts and innovations. It’s like standing on the shoulders of giants – using existing knowledge as a stepping stone to reach new heights of understanding and creativity.
