Describe a time when you had a problem with using a computer

A few months back, I faced a computer problem at home shortly after getting a brand new gaming laptop. It was supposed to be an exciting time, but my laptop was running incredibly slowly. It took forever to open even basic programs, and I was puzzled by this sluggish performance. It was like my laptop was in slow-motion, far from what I expected.

I had a hunch that a few things might be causing the issue, like not having enough memory (RAM), too many background tasks running, or the possibility of a virus. I was particularly concerned about the virus and whether I got scammed and purchased a used computer. Desperate to find a solution, I turned to my husband, who is a tech expert. I explained the whole situation, how slow the computer was.

Being the tech-savvy individual that he is, he methodically assessed the laptop's performance and identified the RAM as the primary issue. He recommended upgrading the RAM to enhance the laptop's capabilities, because the new Windows 11 system was quite resource-demanding. It turned out that despite my laptop having decent specifications, it lacked the necessary RAM to handle my tasks efficiently. Swiftly, my husband ordered the RAM upgrade, and upon its arrival, he effortlessly installed it in the laptop. The transformation was nothing short of remarkable. The laptop's performance improved dramatically, and the sluggish programs now opened almost instantaneously.

In the end, the laptop problem was resolved through a RAM upgrade, and my computer wizard husband came to the rescue. This experience underscored the significance of optimizing laptop hardware and highlighted the invaluable support of having a techie within the family.

Why do people often have problems when using new products?

People frequently encounter issues with new products due to their unfamiliarity with the latest features and software. This situation can be likened to a fish out of water, where individuals may feel lost or unsure about how to operate these new gadgets effectively. For example, when I purchased a state-of-the-art smartphone, I struggled with its advanced camera settings and numerous apps, often feeling like I was in uncharted territory. It took some time to get the hang of it.

How do people use digital devices to help them with their studies?

There are numerous ways to aid people's studies and turn the academic journey into a breeze. People can access a wealth of study materials online, from e-books to educational websites, expanding their knowledge base. Furthermore, they partake in virtual classes, which offer the convenience of remote learning. For example, during my university studies, I relied on digital devices to access research papers and attended virtual seminars, which broadened my academic horizons and enhanced my learning experience.

Do people spend too much time looking at digital screens? Why?

Yes, I believe people, particularly white-collar workers and students, spend excessive time gazing at digital screens. This overuse is largely due to the demands of their respective roles. Students frequently rely on screens for research, assignment. Similarly, office workers may utilize screens for training or work-related tasks during the day and turn to these devices for relaxation and entertainment in the evening.

Do you think that parents should limit the time that their children spend using their mobile phones?

What do you think of people who are addicted to playing computers?

I am not sure if it is a good thing or not, I believe it's like a double-edged sword; while excessive gaming can harm one's health and those people may face adverse health consequences due to prolonged screen time and sedentary behavior, this habit can also open up unexpected opportunities. You can see in this modern technology world, some individuals can earn a living through professional gaming, turning their passion into a lucrative career.
