Các động từ đi với "Off"

Học tiếng Anh nói chung, luyện thi TOEIC nói riêng, phrasal verb là một trong những yếu tố khá quan trọng khi làm bài. Để đạt dược điểm cao khi làm bài, các bạn phải nắm được nghĩa và cách dùng của các cụm động từ này. Mình xin giới thiệu đến các bạn một số động từ hay gặp đi với  “off”.

Call off (something): postpone or cancel something/ hủy, trì hoãn

E.g: We had to call off the meeting with the new client.

Go off (something): explode or fire / làm nổ, bắn súng

E.g: The gun went off at the beginning of the race.

Lay off: to stop doing something, give up, fired (someone) from work / từ bỏ, sa thải

E.g: My sister was laid off from her job.

Put off (something): avoid, delay, postpone/ trì hoãn

E.g: We put off the picnic until tomorrow because it was raining.

Set off someone: Make someone very mad or angry/ làm cho ai giận dữ

E.g: Talking about politics always set my uncle off. He thinks the government wastes too much money.

Show off: deliberate show or brag about one’s abilities or accomplishments/ khoe khoang, phô trương

E.g: My friend likes to show off how much he knows about music.

Take off: airplane becomes airborne OR someone quickly leaving/ cất cánh

E.g: The police officer took off after the speeding car.
