My mother is a skillful cook who is keen on preparing nourishing meals for my family. My mother’s culinary skills are diverse. She specializes in cooking traditional dishes. For instance: Fried pork, crab soup, spring rolls, fish salad or things like that. They are highly flavorful, nutritious and mouth watering dishes. 

What’s remarkable is her ability to create these dishes with love and care, making each meal a delightful experience. She believes that a well-cooked meal has the power to bring people together and create cherished memories.  I do appreciate her talent and effort she puts into every dish.

From my mother’s inspiration, I am passionate about cooking as well because I think that it plays an indispensable part in our home. Cooking has a magical way of making family members feel cozy and cheerful in the ambiance. 

 

Bài mẫu IELTS Speaking Part 3: “Describe a person you know who you think is successful"

1. Have you ever cooked for others?

Absolutely, I have cooked for my family everyday as a wife. I always amuse myself by preparing a variety of dishes from Vietnamese to international cuisine. Cooking allows me to express my creativity and love for my family. 

 

2. What do we need to prepare when we need to cook?

First of all, I need to prepare one basic recipe from my mother or other cooks on the internet to collect the ingredient list. Next, I will go to the market early to buy fresh ingredients like meat, vegetables or spices. Lastly, preparing cooking utensils is also crucial for a smooth cooking process.

 

3. Do you agree that food is an important part of Vietnamese festivals?

Definitely, food plays a pivotal role in Vietnamese festivals. Last weekend, Hanoi had the Autumn Festival which attracted numerous tourists, especially with Vietnamese cuisine. For example: Com lang Vong, Cha muc Ha Long, Tre Binh Dinh, Pho, Nuoc Mam Chin su etc. These dishes are rich in culinary traditions, with signature cuisine from various places in Vietnam. Plus, they would carry deep cultural and historical significance, making them integral to the festive experience.

 

4. Which dishes are a must at festivals?

Several dishes are indispensable during Vietnamese festivals. Firstly, in spring, Banh Chung, Banh Tet or Spring Rolls are eagerly expected from visitors because they are traditional Lunar New Year delicacies.  Secondly, during the autumn season, Xoi com, Cha com are must try dishes in festivals because it is the signature of autumn. Additionally, almost all festive events in Vietnam are incomplete without the flavors of Goi cuon and Pho. These dishes reflect the diversity and vibrancy of Vietnamese culinary traditions, making them essential parts of festivals.
