What risks do parents often tell their children to avoid?
When it comes to risks, parents would always strongly advise them to steer away from latent threats relating to financial or legal. This is because children are not fully equipped with knowledge about these two categories, hence the fact that they are easily fallen victims to activities that may bear sight of fraud.
Should teachers read to children about danger in stories to avoid danger in real life?
In school context, there is not a more suitable way for teachers to educate children about real life dangers than by means of storytelling. However, this method would work out its fullest extent if visual aids were to be added to the story, be it videos or images. In doing so, the children are likely to visualize how the danger could occur in real life situations in the most proper and clear manner.
Why do older people take fewer risks than younger people?
It is a matter of fact that people of mature and elder age outperform their youngsters in terms of life experience. Therefore, they might have developed a keener sense and intuition, which help them to identify unwanted consequences better when taking a risk. Moreover, as older people are more inclined towards a peaceful life, they are hesitant to take a risk, compared to the young people.
Why do some people enjoy sports activities that involve risk?
Looking from the physical aspect, risk-related activities like extreme sports would release a great deal of adrenaline and dopamine hormone, which act as a neurotransmitter to make people feel happy and energized. Also, since humans are a species that would love to set challenges and break them, participating in these life-threatening sports would give them a sense of achievement.
Why do people like watching risky activities in action movies?
People enjoy watching risky activities in blockbusters motion pictures as they are well designed in terms of visual effects, which sometimes gave the impression that it was as if the actor really performed that risky action. Therefore, the spectators would be over excited and thrilled to watch the activity from the screen.
Are there any benefits of experiencing risky activities in video games?
Although it could not be compared to real life, people who commit risky activities from a virtual platform such as video games are still able to obtain certain important experiences and skill sets, particularly those related to self-control, risk management and decision-making.
Do you think everything people do involves some degree of risk?
I believe that while some activities are undoubtedly riskier than others, it's fair to say that an element of risk is present in almost everything we do. Even simple actions like crossing the road or eating food carry a certain degree of uncertainty. Of course, the level of risk varies significantly from one activity to another.
Is it a good thing for leaders to be risk-takers?
That's a complex question. On one hand, a certain degree of risk-taking can be essential for leadership. It often requires innovation and a willingness to challenge the status quo. Leaders who are afraid to take risks might find it difficult to bring about positive change. For instance, many successful businesses were built on risky ventures. On the other hand, excessive risk-taking can be detrimental. Leaders are responsible for the well-being of others, and making reckless decisions can have severe consequences. It's important to strike a balance between boldness and caution.
