The given bar chart illustrates the spending pattern within a week of citizens from a specific country over the course of 50 years, from 1968 to 2018. Overall, there were significant changes to how the people in this country spent their money weekly after 50 years.

To begin with, comestibles accounted for the highest weekly spending in 1968, as 35% of the money was allocated to this category. The following were accommodation and clothing expenses, both of which amounted to 10%. For the other spending categories, including personal and housing goods and types of energies, none received more than 8% of each household’s income. 

After a period of 50 years, families in this country have considerably altered their spending patterns for a week. Specifically, the amount dedicated to food and drinks has depleted by half, to around 17% of the income. This was also true for fashion and personal items groups. Contradictorily, spending on housing, transportation, and entertainment has witnessed a noticeable increase, with leisure receiving the highest amount of income. Regarding the others, each household either slightly decreased or maintained the same amount of money spent on them.
